Set the Stage

Boston Conservatory at Berklee accomplishes the extraordinary, meeting the needs of our students and an ever-evolving industry through a transformative curriculum and myriad opportunities to create and learn. Offering undergraduate and graduate studies in voice, opera, vocal pedagogy, and choral conducting, as well as voice instruction for musical theater majors, our dynamic vocal arts programs build upon the Conservatory’s rich history of teaching excellence and innovation, which includes launching the country’s first grand opera department. Our faculty members—distinguished artists of national and international acclaim—mentor students across a multitude of disciplines, equipping them with the tools needed to make a profound impact in the ever-changing realm of musical arts.

Your Support

In spring 2023, Boston Conservatory received a generous contribution from the Ho Chiang Foundation, in recognition of its commitment to a student-centered approach. This generous gift has established the Vocal Arts Fund to support the following ongoing priorities:

  • Voice-related educational event programming: In 2023, the Music Division welcomed more than 30 guest clinicians from all corners of the field of voice to present master classes, workshops, discussions, performances, and more. The opportunity for emerging professional singers to engage with innovative leaders in the field is critically important, especially in such a rapidly changing landscape.
  • Voice faculty professional development opportunities: Funding for faculty to attend national conferences and training outside Berklee that equips voice instructors with tools they can utilize in our training spaces.
  • Travel awards for graduate and undergraduate students: Every year our students are accepted into prestigious vocal training summer programs around the world, which help them grow professionally and culturally, and prepare them for life beyond graduation. Our competitive travel awards will offer modest support to offset the cost of tuition and travel related to these transformative opportunities.
  • Scholarships for tenors, baritones, and basses: For every 100 sopranos who audition for Boston Conservatory, there is only one tenor, baritone, or bass who applies. Boston Conservatory is committed to recruiting the strongest lower-register singers to ensure the highest quality stage productions and vocal ensemble work for all. With dedicated scholarships, we can ensure that top applicants from all economic backgrounds can access the Conservatory’s transformative education.
