Gifts to Berklee South Asian Scholars Association contribute to...
Berklee’s South Asian Scholars Association (SASA) is the first student organization of its kind and operates as a branch of Berklee India Exchange. Since our inception in 2021, we have grown from just a few students in a classroom to a thriving community of over 150 students and alumni. Our members have had the privilege of performing at renowned venues, such as the House of Blues in Boston and the Perelman Arts Center in New York. Additionally, we’ve had the honor of hosting esteemed artists, including Kaushiki Chakraborty, Vanraj Shastry, and Rajhesh Vaidhya. We are deeply committed to creating a platform for South Asian representation in the Greater Boston area, and this production marks our grandest initiative to date.
Over the past three months, nearly 50 SASA members have been working tirelessly to create Mehfil, a production that truly represents who we are as a collective. Our production crew, arrangers team, board members, and performers have dedicated countless hours behind the scenes to bring this vision to life. Mehfil is our most ambitious endeavor yet, and our goal is to expand our reach beyond the Berklee community. However, a project of this scale requires funding. We’re reaching out for your support to help us make this vision a reality. Your contribution will enable us to secure a venue that matches the grand vision of this production and ensures that it can be shared with a wider audience.
Mehfil is more than just a show—it’s a celebration of the beauty found in diversity and the power of representation. Featuring songs in eight different languages and blending traditional South Asian folk melodies with contemporary instrumentation, Mehfil aims to highlight the rich tapestry of musical traditions that define where we come from. Your support, no matter the amount, means the world to us.
