The Kyanite Collective

The Kyanite Collective aims to create a community of dancers with kindness and inclusivity as a part of their main core values. We hope to remove some of the toxicity and judgement that is often seen in dance environments because of the competitive nature of how dancers are raised. We envision a thriving and inclusive dance community at Berklee where every student— regardless of dance experience, financial background, or academic path— has access to the joy, freedom, and expression that dance can offer. Our goal is to create a safe, uplifting space where individuals from all sorts of different backgrounds can come together to move, learn, and connect without fear of judgment or pressure. We believe that dance should be accessible to everyone, not just those pursuing it academically or professionally. That’s why we strive to remove common barriers to participation, including high costs, intimidating class structures, and complex academic systems. Our vision is to serve as a welcoming home for both newcomers and seasoned dancers—whether they are curious to try dance for the first time or simply seeking a more relaxed, supportive environment than traditional conservatory programs provide.

Our Giving Day funds will be used to support our first annual showcase this April. We will use these funds for costumes, stage equipment, and other technical show needs!
