BoCo Cares is a club run by students at Boston Conservatory at Berklee that creates opportunities for students to perform, direct, choreograph—and beyond—in order to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. We aim to break down social barriers by using art as activism, providing a positive and inclusive environment cultivated by compassion, love, and celebration for people, serving as a platform for all students to showcase their talent, and finding creative ways to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community through performance.
All of the proceeds we raise through our shows are donated to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS: the philanthropic heart of Broadway, helping people across the country and across the street receive life saving medications, health care, nutritious meals, counseling, and emergency financial assistance. This past year, we held all four of our typical annual shows: the Halloween Show, Artist Cabaret (featuring the music of Britney Spears), MisCast, and Drag Show. In the spring semester alone, we raised upwards of $2,700. Additionally, all of our shows are student-led, student-performed, and student-produced. This allows us to provide many opportunities to students as both performers and as creatives, all in support of a fantastic cause.
Because 100 percent of our proceeds go to support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, we are in need of funding to support our shows on the technical side. Your gift will allow us to buy costumes, lighting equipment, and other essential production supplies. Through your support, we will be able to continue showcasing our students’ talent and creating high-quality shows and performance opportunities, which will allow us to further support the work of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
